Optimum hardware for running nginx ?

Hi,

Does anyone have any experience choosing the best dedicated hardware
to run nginx on ?

I'm considering using nginx for a medium-trafficked site (around 500
connections per minute) and am interested in:

- How much memory would be wise to go for (2GB, 4GB, 8GB) ?
- Does nginx gain any advantages from multi-processor and/or
  multi-core systems ?
- Does nginx run more smoothly on one flavour of Linux over
  another ?
- Does SCSI/IDE have any bearing ?

Plus any other hardware tips from people using nginx in production
would be welcome.
