<P>> writing out a new config file and doing a normal reload will accomplish the same thing and it's already done. No need to reinvent the wheel, I don't think. We manage the members of an upstream "dynamically" based on our CMDB, so when we add or remove servers, the changes are reflected in nginx and we did this without touching a line of nginx code.<BR>

<P>My customer wants two way synchronization instead of one way propagation. For example if a backend server fails to return then nginx should notice operators promptly that the server is bad. In addition we have not only server list but also other kinds of repository. For example, some policy like max_session_count or max_session_rate per one server etc. anyhow i can't help but modify nginx code.</P>

<P>That's why i consider taking advantage of shared memory to do various things above though i can handle some by config file.</P>

<P>To make a decision i just want to know if it's ok i use signal processing in nginx.</P>

<P>By the way reloading the config doesn't affect the performance of nginx even in peak time without any loss of client request?</P>
