Имеем на уровне сервер:

modern_browser unlisted;

ancient_browser msie 4.0;
ancient_browser msie 5.0;
ancient_browser msie 5.5;
ancient_browser msie 6.0;

log_format		browser '"$http_user_agent" = $ancient_browser = $modern_browser';

На уровне сервер регистрируем

access_log  /var/log/browser.log browser;

На выходе странные данные:
