Nginx isn't as fast as i expect

The OP right.  Nginx is slower for tiny php scripts because it has to
reconnect to the backend for every request.  For larger scripts the
difference in speed is insignificant but nginx uses far less memory
than apache and can serve many more clients simultaneously.
