Appropriate use for nginx?

My employer's mail server requires TLS authentication for POP3 access.

I'd like to use OTRS for help desk ticketing -- and it fetches e-mail via POP3.  It does not support TLS authentication.

Could I use nginx to proxy POP3 requests allowing OTRS to connect to nginx with straight POP3, but instead doing TLS-authenticated POP3 when connecting to the real server?
