How looks your lighttpd conffile?

Have you changed anything else then the webserver?
Which nginx version do you use?
How was nginx compiled?

As eliott asked: Which OS do you use?

If you under linux maybe you can make a:

vmstat -d 1
and/or
vmstat 1
