Nginx error

We have a strange issue with our rails app deployed on a linux box with
a nginx in front and a mongrel cluster behind. frequently i am getting
error in
nginx log

2008/11/20 10:19:33 [error] 8558#0: *375433 upstream timed out (110:
Connection timed out) while reading response header from upstream,
client: 174.133.202.154, server: www.domain.com, request: "POST
/waphandler HTTP/1.1", upstream:"http://192.168.1.2:9011/waphandler",
host: "www.domain.com"



Maybe somebody here made similar experiences and could give us a hint.
That would be great!
