Nested SSI statements?

Hi,

AFAICT nginx does not support nested ssi statement: Is this correct -- or am I doing something wrong.

<html>
<head></head>
<body>
<!--# include file="header.html.inc -->
</body>
</html>

header.html.inc contains among other html
<p>
<!--# echo var="name" default="Hello, World" -->
</p>
