sudden increase in writing connections and apache processes

I updated nginx to latest stable and problem still here. resolvers work properly but when I try to connect to the website I need to wait 3 seconds to get connected..any further surfing of the web is fast (I use keepalive). And I cannot find out why this happened. :-(
