Possible to avoid caching files with 0 size ?

Hello,

Iam running nginx as a reverse proxy. Occasionally portions of our
upstream server become unavailable and end up throwing blank screens..
Is there any possible way that i can tell nginx not to cache 0 size
files (php, images, html) ?
