using nginx as load balanced for outgoing mail

Hi

Could you tell, please, is it reasonable (and is it possible at all) use
nginx as load balanced for set of MTAs?

I would like to setup set of exim's on several hosts. Client application
will send mail to nginx, and latter will pass it to backends. It seems
like DNS balancing won't fit, because there is only application will
send emails, and it may cache IP addresses.

If you know other solutions, you are welcome.
