Please don't collect bad advices.  You shouldn't use any directive without
full understanding what it's for according to official documentation 
(http://nginx.org/en/docs/), and what real problem you're trying to solve.

Those spikes can be a result of "multi_accept on".

Everyone who added this line to config should be fired.

Mobile clients will blame you for this setting.
