Alias or root directive

Hi there,

i try to add a images folder but seems not work.
Could someone tell me what i am doing wrong:

        location ~ ^/en/holidays/shared/images {
                root /mnt/nfs/uat/;
        }

When i replace root with alias it has also no effect :-(
