Thanks Alex for the quick response. I could do it using the below
configuration in nginx.conf

ssl_verify_client on;
> ssl_client_certificate
> /etc/ssl/certs/cbclientcerts/clientfullchaincert.pem;
> ssl_verify_depth 1;
