Do nginx 1.14 and 1.17 have compatible configuration file formats?

Basic test showed it work on 1.17 with my old 1.14 config.
But is there any official announcement that the nginx has backward compatibility from X version to Y version?

I would say, install a box with 1.17, copy your config, and do a config test to see if it works 😊

I am planning to upgrade it to the latest 1.17 version.
